Transforming the experience of homelessness in Baltimore city

Anova is building a trauma-informed, dignity-centered ecosystem for people experiencing homelessness. This is rooted in listening, partnership, and long-term stability.

What is Anova?

Anova is a Baltimore-based initiative building a dignity-first housing and workforce ecosystem for people experiencing homelessness and housing instability. We are not a traditional shelter or short-term program. We are designing a long-term, trauma-informed pathway where individuals can stabilize, rebuild, and reenter community life with agency.

MORE ABOUT ANOVA

Why Anova Exists

Across the country, and in Baltimore, many homelessness response systems are operating under strain. Shelters are often overcrowded. Case managers are overextended. Support pathways can feel fragmented and short-term. The result is not a lack of effort, but a lack of coordination and personalization.

The Stability Gap

Many services are designed to address immediate crises. Fewer are structured for long-term rebuilding. Individuals often move between emergency shelters, temporary housing, and short-term programs without a cohesive pathway forward.

The Trust Gap

For many people, past trauma shapes how they experience institutional spaces. Environments that feel crowded, impersonal, or compliance-driven can reinforce stress rather than reduce it. When people decline services, it is often not rejection of help, but rejection of how help is delivered.

The Design Gap

Most systems are standardized by necessity. But no two individuals navigating homelessness share the same history, needs, or goals. When support is templated, people adapt to systems instead of systems adapting to people.

Anova exists to address the above gaps. We are building an ecosystem designed around dignity, relationship, and personalized growth, where stability is structured and individuals retain agency in their own progress.

How we are different

Personalized Pathways

No templated tracks. Each growth plan is co-created.

Lived-Experience Led

People who have navigated homelessness shape our approach.

Dignity first

Support begins with respect, not compliance.
